Ethics & Due Diligence
Adoption of a new ethical due diligence policy for commercial relations
We have always had a deep aversion to the use of trade sanctions as a political tool, considering them an abuse that ends up affecting innocent populations.
However, there are moments in history when passivity becomes complicity and silence becomes tacit approval. The ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza has exceeded all limits of human acceptability and has forced us to reflect deeply on our duties and our corporate social responsibility. What the world is witnessing is not a conflict between equals, but the devastation of a civilian population by means that trample on every rule of international law and every principle of civilization.
Faced with this intolerable situation, we cannot and do not want to remain inert. Our work consists of providing generators to support the life and activities of communities. This commitment to human dignity must necessarily be reflected in our commercial choices.
Therefore, with immediate effect, UPP Used Power Plant adopts a new ethical due diligence policy. According to this policy, the company will refrain from entering into new business relationships with any entity, regardless of its location, if the government authorities under which it operates enforce the systematic deprivation of essential survival resources — such as water, food, medical supplies, and electricity — against civilian populations, or use total siege and starvation as a deliberate method of warfare.
To ensure consistency with this commitment and to avoid unnecessary administrative steps, we cordially invite our partners and potential customers to refrain from submitting requests for destinations that are currently and known to be at the center of the events that have motivated the adoption of this policy.
This decision is not directed against any specific people, citizen, or group, but is the application of a principle of responsibility. It is a necessary act to ensure that our business operations do not contribute, even indirectly, to supporting policies that we repudiate.
We consider this decision a moral imperative and a necessary evolution of our way of operating. We trust in the understanding of all our partners for a choice that we consider a dutiful act of coherence with our values.
